Dear Friend,
It’s a joy to begin sharing topics in The Journey series with you.
The Journey is all about the call of God on your life. Where you end up in life is determined by how well you prepare for it.
So far I have shared on Defining your Destination by Vision, Fulfilling Your Purpose, The Pillars of Progress and Strategies for a Fulfilled Life.’ Our focus is now on ‘Focus on the Future, Walk of Faith and Living by the Promises of God' and Depending on God’.
DEPENDING ON GOD back to top
Today’s message is ‘Depending on God,’ but what does this mean? It is important that you do not depend on CNN; or constant negative news throughout your journey. Most of man’s troubles come from the inability to be still. Be still and know that God is God. You do not have to worry; you can be still and cease from striving. Be still and not struggle against God’s will for your life. Be still, do not tell yourself “it’s my life”, be still and depend on God.
God is a protector. Psalm 46:1; your very present help, He is sufficiently present. He is efficiently present. God is a very present help. There are people you call and they do not always turn up on time; or help comes when the need is no longer required, but our God is always on time. Let God know that you depend on Him. Jeremiah 29:12 says, ‘you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. God can help and when you depend on Him, you will not fear. There is a lot of fear in the world today. Before you board a plane, there are countless security checks due to fear. You should not place too much confidence in false security. People are not your protection; it is God who will protect you.
We can all be travelling in the same direction but we will all arrive at different times. When a pilot is in control of a plane, turbulence will cause him to bypass the route required and acquire an alternative route; but you will always arrive at your destination and on time. Just because you go through tribulations, does not mean that you will not arrive at your destination. There will be turbulence and you will need to make course alterations, but you will get there. The people who do not make a success of their Christian lives or their journey, are those who do not make course corrections, they continue to travel, and fail to realise that if they do not alter their course, their travel will only continue; they do not realise that if things are not working, it may be an indication that their headed in the wrong direction. That is when you need to change course, find another way. Stop focusing on the circumstance and depend on God, whatever you are going through, call on Him. He is your protection. Psalm 127:1-2. The economy has changed except the Lord keep the city, There is no adequate protection for your finances or your job unless God keeps you. We feel safe with family and friends but no matter how much they want to protect you, it is only God who will protect you when you depend on Him.
God is your refuge and strength in the time of need. You need something you can rest in; that’s why David said “God is our refuge”, He is our Refuge. This means He is the storm stopper; when the tornado comes, God will stop the storm, God is in you. He is our fallout shelter when the events of life explode over our head. David said in Psalm 61:1-2 “Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to you, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the Rock that is higher than I”. When there are undesirable events all around, God is the shelter you can run to. Depend on Him, and know you have a hiding place.
He is also your high tower when the waves of disasters and defeat rise up and beat at your feet. Proverbs 18:10 says “The name of the Lord is a Strong Tower; the righteous run to it and are safe”. Depend on God. He watches over you to deliver you from the things you know and those you do not know; and “because you have made the Lord, whois my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling”. Psalm 91:9-10. It is a promise of God to you. So depend on God.
On this journey you must put your weight on God and not on people. People will let you down but God will never let you down. God will give you an uncommon victory because of your dependence on Him; and it will be a cause for you to celebrate and praise His name. It will be for His Glory that He will answer your prayer and give you more than you were expecting or hoping for. ‘Oh taste and see that the Lord is good’ depend on Him, so when the enemy comes in like a flood you can cry out to the Lord and ask for His protection. You’ll be able to say “Lord I can not do this by myself”. In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us and as you depend on God, He will give you victory.
When you depend on God; He becomes your protector, your refuge, your strength but you need His grace. His Grace is sufficient for you. 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 our power is made stronger through the power of the Lord, so when people pick on you they don’t know, who your strength is; and He will show up for you. When you Depend on God, you don’t have to be a super hero to make it through. You can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens you. Philippians 4:13 just depend on God for whom so ever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. It is here that your weakness can become your greatest point of testimony. He is closer than the feeling of the clothes on your body, when you think you have enjoyed His presence, He gets closer. God does not do one night stands; He lives with you and when you go through things it is God who is with you 24 hours a day, 365 days of a year, He is always there. With God, there are no limits, you have got to learn to Depend on God, for your journey, for your life.
As you hear all of the messages it is my prayer that you will apply the principles and fruit will manifest in your life.
You have been called appointed, equipped and anointed for such a time as this.
Until next month,
You are blessed and highly favoured
