Every Step Counts: How Steps With Purpose Is Igniting Health, Faith and Generosity Across KICC

Even as we journey through the second quarter of 2026, one thing has become beautifully clear, health remains a priority in the KICC family.
At the start of the year many of us wrote down goals, dreams, and intentions for the months ahead. If we’re honest, some of those goals may now feel distant, delayed, or even forgotten. Life happens. Momentum slows. Motivation dips. But as a church community, we are choosing not to drift away from what we committed to.
Instead, together as the family of Kingsway International Christian Centre, we are leaning in with renewed passion and fresh momentum.
We are pursuing our health goals with even greater determination, and that journey has a name.
Steps with Purpose.
Why This Challenge Is Different
There is something uniquely powerful happening inside the KICC community right now.
This challenge is:
- Open to all ages
- Open to all abilities
- Open to participants anywhere in the world
- Completely free to join
Participants join teams of 10, and their steps are tracked digitally through the Big Challenge platform. Together, we are taking part in one shared virtual journey around the globe — each individual step moving the entire community forward together.
Pause and imagine that.
Someone walking in London.
Someone cycling in another city.
Someone jogging early in the morning.
Different places. Different paces.
But one shared journey.
And here is where purpose deepens even more: participants are raising funds by getting sponsored for the steps they take. Every step becomes an opportunity to support life-changing work.
Our collective goal?
500 million steps by 31 May 2026.
At the beginning, that number felt bold.
Now, it feels achievable.

Momentum Is Building — And It’s Exciting
If you are eager to know how the challenge has been going so far, the progress already tells a powerful story.
Momentum is growing daily. Teams are encouraging one another. The private Facebook Community Hub has become a vibrant space filled with motivation, accountability, prayer, encouragement and shared celebration.
Every day, people are showing up.
Moving more.
Giving more.
Believing more.
This is what happens when faith meets action.
And if you have been on the fence about joining the challenge, this is your reminder:
It is still not too late to join.
Why Health Matters Spiritually
Scripture reminds us of the importance of caring for our health:
3 John 1:2 (TPT)
“Beloved friend, I pray that you are prospering in every way and that you continually enjoy good health, just as your soul is prospering.”
This verse reminds us that looking after our health is not separate from our spiritual journey, it strengthens it. Being in good health positions us to accelerate into the plans and purposes God has for us in 2026 and beyond.
When our bodies are strengthened, our capacity to serve, lead, give and live fully increases.
Preparing Ourselves to Accelerate
As we gear up for IGOC 2026 and prepare to accelerate into all God has for us, this second quarter presents a beautiful opportunity for reflection.
What do you need to focus on in order to accelerate in the coming months?
For some, it may be health, and the Step Challenge is the perfect opportunity to start.
For others, it may be finances, relationships or spiritual growth.
Whatever God has placed on your heart, do not hesitate.
Start now. Start today.
Begin to prepare for what you are praying for.
As we prepare spirit, soul and body for Accelerate, IGOC 2026, we believe God will meet us and do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think.
A Community Moving With Purpose
As Matthew Ashimolowo reminds us:
“Make your life count. Forget yesterday; embrace tomorrow. Start living a life of significance from today.”
Steps with Purpose is one of the ways we are doing exactly that, moving together, giving together, and building momentum as a community of faith.
And the journey is still unfolding.
STEP CHALLENGE TESTIMONIALS
Sis Lara — Since starting the steps challenge, I feel lighter and more energetic. I have also found that I have an improved appetite. I divide the challenge into 2 parts of the day and aim to do 4000 – 5000 steps in the morning. The remainder of the steps are achieved during lunchtime and in the evening. My highlight is meeting the daily goal of 10 000 steps. So far, I have been able to raise £480. On days that I realise that I am far from my 10,000 steps target, I catch up by doing some high praise to God for an hour.
Sis Florence —
The challenge has made me more intentional about keeping fit and active. The fact that the funds raised go towards a good cause is motivation to get out and walk. Being in a team of 10, has introduced healthy competition. Although some in the team are walking effortlessly. So far I have achieved 405 847 steps. Together my team has done 6881957 steps to date. On the steps with purpose app, weekly motivation on the benefits of walking is shared and this has encouraged me to keep going.
